One of the primary avenues through which our school instils leadership qualities in students is through the school election of council members. This process not only empowers students to participate actively in the democratic process but also helps them understand the essence of leadership, responsibility, and teamwork. However, the leadership development process does not end with the conduct of elections alone. The elected leaders are actively involved in the School’s affairs and get ample opportunity to participate in decision-making and develop creative problem solving skills. The leaders have to engage with the students on a regular basis and ensure the active participation of all students. Thus, our students learn that accountability is an inherent part of the leadership process.
The Student Council formation is conducted every year in three phases - The Introductory Round, Campaigning, and Casting of Votes. Elections are conducted on two levels - Junior and Senior. The Council members are elected through a democratic process, which gives students a taste of real world leadership, while the teachers act as mentors and guides to identify and nurture potential leaders.
In addition to acquiring hands-on leadership training, students also attend several workshops and seminars aimed at enhancing self-awareness and developing collaborative leadership and interpersonal skills.
Through our student leaders and class monitors, we promote core values such as integrity, empathy, accountability, resilience and adaptability. Our leadership process also helps develop skills like communication and collaboration. By instilling these values and skills, and by offering the right support and guidance, we empower our students to become exemplary leaders who contribute positively to their communities and the world at large.
