A workshop on Sexual Abuse and Cyber Crime against children was conducted in Saint Soldier International School, Sector-28-B, Chandigarh. The aim was to sensitize the non-teaching staff, including school bus drivers, lady attendants, maids and gardeners of the school about Sexual Abuse and Cyber-Crime against children. Ms. Shipra Bansal, the Chairperson of CCPCR (Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights) UT, was the resource person. She was warmly welcomed by the Principal, Ms. Anisha Ghuman and the staff. The resource person emphasized on the importance of child safety and awareness about sexual abuse against children with the help of numerous examples. She threw light on POCSO Act, 2012 (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) as a law in India that protects children from sexual abuse and offenses. Furthermore, she enlightened the audience on punishments and penalties for the exploitation of children covering physical and mental abuse. The workshop concluded with Vote of Thanks by faculty member, Ms. Ritu Verma. The informative session gave sharp insights to the support staff on the legal implications of abuse and exploitation of children.
