Saint Soldier International School, Sector 28 B, Chandigarh hosted a one-day CBSE Capacity Building Programme on ‘Happy Classrooms’. The workshop aimed at empowering educators with strategies to foster a positive, engaging and joyful learning environment in classrooms. Valuable insights for the event were presented by the two distinguished resource persons Ms. Sneh Bansal, Assistant Professor at DEGSN, NCERT, New Delhi and Ms. Jyothi N. Belavadi, HOD Science Dept. at St. Joseph’s School. Ms. Bansal provided key perspectives on addressing diverse student needs with empathy and inclusivity, emphasizing the importance of emotional well-being and the role of teachers in creating a nurturing atmosphere for holistic development. Ms. Belavadi, shared her extensive experience in implementing innovative teaching techniques like project based learning, gamification, classroom technology etc. that enhance students’ happiness and engagement.
The workshop, aimed to inspire teachers to make learning enjoyable and student-friendly, ensuring better emotional and academic outcomes. Teachers were provided with handouts for activities, including a self-awareness scale and exercises to enhance their understanding of emotional intelligence. The event was an enriching experience for the educators, equipping them with new approaches to foster joy, creativity and positivity in their teaching practices. Principal Ms. Anisha Ghuman expressed her gratitude to the resource persons and emphasized the school’s ongoing commitment to teacher development and to creating a supportive environment for students.
